{"id":1169,"date":"2015-11-04T11:25:55","date_gmt":"2015-11-04T16:25:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.popartsplace.net\/now\/?p=1169"},"modified":"2015-11-04T14:49:11","modified_gmt":"2015-11-04T19:49:11","slug":"wizardworld-austin-2015-wizardworld","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.popartsplace.net\/now\/2015\/11\/04\/wizardworld-austin-2015-wizardworld\/","title":{"rendered":"@WizardWorld Austin 2015 #WizardWorld"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>John Mayo, of <a href=\"http:\/\/comicbookpage.com\/Podcast\/?p=1457\" target=\"_blank\">ComicBookPage<\/a>, talks with Kay Kellam, of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.popartsplace.com\/now\/\" target=\"_blank\">PopArtsPlace<\/a>, about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wizardworld.com\/home-austin.html\" target=\"_blank\">Wizard World Austin<\/a> 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately Austin and surrounding areas were under a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kvue.com\/picture-gallery\/weather\/2015\/10\/30\/photos-2015-halloween-floods\/74878684\/\" target=\"_blank\">flash flood<\/a> and Tornado warning the first day of this 2 day convention, which prevented many from being able to attend, it did not however dampen the enthusiasm of those who were present Saturday. \u00a0(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2015\/10\/30\/us\/texas-flooding\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">CNN <\/a>and other national news outlets covered the flooding in Austin and the region.)<\/p>\n<p>Not only did the weather mean some attendees found attending an obstacle, but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0000653\/\" target=\"_blank\">Brent Spiner<\/a> (Data of Star Trek the Next Generation among other credits) was unable to get to the convention to attend, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0290969\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\" target=\"_blank\">Jason David Frank<\/a> (Tommy of Power Rangers) left early since his flight was cancelled but he had figured out how to drive home if he left immediately after his final panel.<\/p>\n<p>The official rain totals reported Saturday by \u00a0<a class=\"ProfileHeaderCard-nameLink u-textInheritColor js-nav \" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JaredP_KVUE\">Jared Plushnick<\/a>\u00a0 (<a class=\"ProfileHeaderCard-screennameLink u-linkComplex js-nav\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JaredP_KVUE\">@<span class=\"u-linkComplex-target\">JaredP_KVUE<\/span><\/a>) of the local ABC Affiliate\u00a0for that flash flood period were:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1171\" src=\"http:\/\/www.popartsplace.net\/now\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/CSrUQQRUsAAPmf2.png\" alt=\"Flash Flood Rain Totals in Austin Area\" width=\"599\" height=\"337\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.popartsplace.net\/now\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/CSrUQQRUsAAPmf2.png 599w, http:\/\/www.popartsplace.net\/now\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/CSrUQQRUsAAPmf2-300x169.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 599px) 100vw, 599px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Among other things, while at the convention John and Kay\u00a0attended several panels including:<\/p>\n<p>12:30 \u2013 1:15PM <b>CREATING WORLDS AND STORYTELLING (BALLROOM E)<\/b><br \/>\nCreators, Novelists, and Narrative Designers discuss the ins and outs of creating worlds and storytelling including the realities and opportunities when seeking a creative career. <b>Genese Davis<\/b> (The Holder&#8217;s Dominion), <b>Hall Hood<\/b> (Studio Lead Writer at BioWare Austin), <b>Jack Conner<\/b> (The Atomic Sea) and <b>Eric Kieron Davis<\/b> (Senior Producer) will divulge their experiences and their secrets for developing and selling creative projects in this one-of-a-kind panel.<\/p>\n<p>3:30 \u2013 4:15PM <b>THE ART OF SATURDAY MORNING CARTOON PRODUCTION WITH ANIMATOR\/DIRECTOR TOM COOK (BALLROOM E)<\/b><br \/>\nWizard World is proud to present world-renown animator <b>Tom Cook<\/b> (Tarzan; Flash Gordon; He-Man and the Masters of the Universe; She-Ra Princess of Power). This panel will be a demonstration of the steps taken to bring an idea from script to screen. Cook will begin with a short story of how he became an animator back in the late 1970s and then describe the different departments in an animation studio and what they do to move the development of the cartoon forward.
